La Festa di Sant'Anselmo...

Today is the Feast of St. Anselm - a benedictine archbishop who served the people of France and England until his death in 1109. As Archbishop of Canterbury he wrote in areas of philosophy and theology including the phrase "fides quaerens intellectum" (faith seeking understanding) all of which led to the declaration of St. Anselm as a Doctor of the Church. My school, the Pontifical Academy of Sant'Anselmo, observes this feast, among other ways, by giving students a free day - un giorno libero! So, I'm happy. This year also marks the 900th anniversary of his death in this life.
