A New Superior General...

Today in Rome the delegates to the General Chapter of the Congregation of Holy Cross elected as Superior General Rev. Richard Warner, CSC who now succeeds Rev. Hugh Cleary, CSC.

A former provincial of the Indiana Province, Fr. Warner has served since 1989 as Director of Campus Ministry at the University of Notre Dame.

Let us remember Fr. Warner in our prayers as he assumes this new office.

Bootach, thanks for your comment. In response, no, not at all. Fr. Warner was elected by delegates representing worldwide congregational interests.

His will be large shoes to fill back at campus ministry.

God bless.

Father,

I am just ignorant of internal discussions, which is why I asked.

He did very well balancing many different student groups, perspectives, and preferences while I was at ND. I did not envy him in his role as Director - it was a tough role which requires much level-headedness and prudence. He did this well, in my experience. He was always fair and understanding to me, and having served for him on one occasion, I can say that this good and kind priest will leave more than large *shoes* to fill! (I mean this in all charity, humor and goodwill as a larger man myself!)

PS - I deliberately wanted to put my original statement in the indicative, but I forgot those verbs are 2nd conjugation and not 3rd. Just for the record!
