Dr. Gail Walton, 1954 - 2010

We mourn and pray for the repose of Dr. Gail Walton. Her funeral Mass is to be celebrated today in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Dr. Walton served as Director of Music for the basilica as well as the Director of the Liturgical Choir and Assistant to the Women's Choir.

Dr. Walton was ever-present and her absence from campus life will be obvious and dearly missed. Whether it was working with her during my years as a cantor or preparing the music for my class's Final Vows liturgy, or other particular events, she was always so gracious, tremendously knowledgeable in her expertise, and dedicated to the students.

Dr. Gail Walton was 55.

Into your hands, Father of mercies, we commend our sister Gail in the sure and certain hope that, together with all who have died in Christ, she will rise with him on the last day. Merciful Lord, turn toward us and listen to our prayers: open the gates of paradise to your servant and help us who remain to comfort one another with assurances of faith, until we all meet in Christ and are with you and with our sister forever. - Prayer of Commendation, Roman Ritual.
